Eskasoni Ghosts: Haunted Woods – ‘Tall Man in Black’

eskasoni tall man black

Location: Eskasoni (First Nation Community),  Nova ScotiaCanada

Paranormal report by Mare:

“I was about 16 years old at the time, I am 31 now. Anyways, me and my boyfriend at the time were at the Castle Bay ballfield with some of our friends on a Friday night during the summer.

We were going to meet up with some more of our friends on Beach Road; we had to take a trail through the woods (this is no longer there as there is now a school).

It was about 93010ish in the evening. My boyfriend had a Bic lighter. I didn’t have a lighter, so a close friend of mine let me use his Zippo, allowing me to see walking through the woods.

As we got a little ways into the trail through the woods, we noticed a very dark shadow in the woods, you could even hear branches of the trees breaking.

Assuming this shadow was one of the boys trying to scare me, we approached it and said, “Gday boys, taliaq (what’s up).” But they didn’t answer back.

We said it again, “Gday boys, taliaq?” Still nothing.

I got the most eeriest feeling I’ve ever felt in my life. I immediately asked my boyfriend, “Who is that? Why isn’t it saying anything, why isn’t it moving?”

I got so scared, the most scared I’ve ever felt.

I turned on the Zippo to see who this person was. When I looked up, I didn’t see a face, I didn’t see hair. All I saw was a tall, black shadow, wearing a trench style coat and a top hat of some sort.

I prayed in my head for this thing in the woods not to bother or harm us and to just leave us alone.

My boyfriend said in Mi’kmaq, “Jikali (go away), pu’naje’ou” (leave us alone). The shadow suddenly just turned around, didn’t say nothing, and walked away.

We turned on the Zippo again and we could see the footprints walking away from us, as though someone was stepping on the grass.

When we got out of the woods and onto the main road on Beach Road, I asked my boyfriend, what the heck was that?

He told me, “You know those stories about the tall man in black that walks around, especially at night?” I said, “Yes”. He said, “Babe, that was him.”

I screamed and just thanked the creator for helping us get out of the trail safely. I haven’t gone through that trail during the evening ever again.”

Lac Seul Ghosts: Pelican Falls High School – ‘Scratches on My Legs’

true ghost stories lac seul

Location: Sioux Lookout (Lac Seul First Nation), Ontario, Canada
Type: house on school site
Built: n/a

Ghost report from Anonymous:

“So I go to school at Pelican Falls High School. It used to be an old Aboriginal residential school. So many people/kids have died in the area. We live on site so there is quite a bit of us in a single big house.

Usually when I’m upstairs alone I’d hear people in other rooms or the closet down the hallway, but no one would be upstairs.

There was this time I slept in room 4. There would be this little girl age 4-6 who would walk in almost every night and lay down in the middle of the room and disappear.

And when I moved to room 2 the same little girl would come in, but she wouldn’t be as nice and friendly as she used to be.

On multiple occasions I would wake up with scratches on my legs or arms. Once in a while, I would have bruises on my wrists.

Other times you would be able to hear a man yelling in the hallway in the middle of the night. The male gender wouldn’t be allowed upstairs and our doors would be locked at 11pm, so no way they would get in at 2 am in the morning. And it would be scary, usually would have to listen to music and drain out the sounds.

We would be lucky if we could go a while without hearing or seeing anything. May I add this is about 30 minutes away from Sioux Lookout, Ontario, in the Lac Seul traditional territory.”

Lac Seul Ghosts: Shadow On The Floor

Lac Seul ghosts haunted paranormal Ontario Canada

Location: Lac Seul (First Nation Community), Ontario, Canada

Ghost report from Phoenix on May 22, 2015:

“I was at a young age, living in a fly-in sub community of Lac Seul in the late 80’s before there was all road access. I had just come home from school and I wanted to see my boyfriend, puppy love as they called it. He lived in the other sub community of Whitefish Bay.

We were talking and butterflies in our stomachs because, you know, we liked each other a lot. Laughing and flirting a bit, teasing and talking about our day. I was lying on our couch, it was against the wall, my head hanging over the couch, giggling. My bedroom light was on. You know how the light shines onto the floor and the door frame shadows unto it? The light was a dim yellow because of the light bulbs we used. As the light shined, my head hanging over the couch, I saw a shadow of a head peaking around the shadow door but on the floor. I looked at the door thinking nothing of it, then I continued to talk.

As I did this the shadow head, shadow of a person appeared more. I could see the body shape, the shoulder and head. I sat up and looked towards the door. Thinking what was that? As soon as I sat up to look and looked on the floor then looked up towards the door frame, the shadow body and head moved back. Here I started to get scared, trembling to the point of crying. I was unable to move, scared to move to go and look in my room. My boyfriend said to me; “whats wrong? Your voice sounds funny”. I said; “I’m sorry but I got to go, call you back”.

I hung up. I stood up, shaking. I was a 8-9 year old kid. Scared out of my wits. I went to my bedroom, the air was kind of cool. Now that I think of it in my adulthood, it was cool, almost cold air.

When I think of this, at this point of time in my life, I want to know who visited me. I didn’t tell anyone of this, not even my parents or siblings. I only tell of it now that I am older.

I heard a lot of scary stories around our First Nation. I feel I am sensitive to Spirits. I saw this thing/ghost in our house. Now and again, I dream of our ‘old’ home. I know there are spirits everywhere.”

Sheshatshiu Ghosts: Leave Me Alone

Sheshatshiu ghosts haunted paranormal Newfoundland Canada

Location: Sheshatshiu (First Nation Community), Newfoundland, Canada

Ghost report from Jasmin on May 19, 2015:

“It was November 16, 2010. I was sleeping over at my aunt’s house. We were alone and she cooked my favs.. As we were eating, we saw someone across the kitchen. But we ignored it cause we thought we were tired as we finished eating.

We went to bed and I woke up around 2/3: 30 in the morning by the sound of the knocking on the window. I looked out the window, no body was there. There wasn’t trees or something that could’ve knocked. I heard the knocking again. It didn’t come from the window this time, it was coming from my aunties mirror. I screamed, I woke up my auntie and we ran out. Shaking and scared, we’ve been outside for 4 hours. It was about 7 am in the morning when we went inside. My aunt just moved into that house. We never slept in that room again. There was 4 different bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

Then the next day I heard a woman crying in the bathroom. I thought it was my aunt, but it wasn’t her. I would tease my aunt when she cried, I’d always say “stop crying now, you’ll wet the floor” then the woman laughed and cried at the same time.. She spoke… She said “LEAVE ME ALONE” it was scary.. My aunt came upstairs and heard it.. She threw the shopping bags and ran downstairs.. We both did.”

The Pas Ghosts: We Summoned Grandpa

Location: The Pas (First Nation Community), Manitoba, Canada

The following report was sent into our website by Annika on July 9, 2014:

“One night, I was only 5 yrs old, and I was with my cousins. There were four of us, and we were telling scary stories. My grandpa died three weeks before.

I got really scared, and one of my cousins’ had to cover my ears. Later on we summoned my grandpa and we wanted to take a picture, so we took one.

After we got to see it, I noticed something by my leg. It looked like a clear circle (orb). Later after I tried to go to sleep I felt some thing staring at me.

In the morning, I told my grandma what happened and she told me that it might be my grandpa watching over me.

Till then every time I take a picture I see the same orb (circle).”
