Chester Ghosts: Old Hag Syndrome Strikes Again

Location: Chester, Nova ScotiaCanada

The following report was sent into our website by Rose on Jan 29, 2011:

“I rented a home across from a graveyard. One night I was talking on my cell phone laying on the bed. I hung up and in a second the blankets started to move, and then I felt a freezing feeling coming on as did before when I was 18, I am now 55. So I knew what was coming and I thought to myself that I would hit the button on the phone for a dial tone but I froze too fast. And then came a figure so ugly, grey hair and pointed teeth like broken off and shrunken face. It was horrible looking, and it could read minds. It said to me “don’t think that cell phone is going to help you” and laughed at me. It said “you’re cursed” and I layed on the bed frozen. I remember I still had the phone in my hand but was frozen. I said the Lord’s Prayer in my mind and it left and I was unfrozen. And then the dial tone came as my finger was released. I was not asleep I was awake, and I know this really happened by that phone.”

Vancouver Ghosts: Sleep Paralysis Symptoms

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

The following report was sent into our website by Kimberly on Sept 4, 2010:

“I was sleeping, and all of a sudden, approximately 3:00 am, I heard this high pitch sound. When I started to notice it, I heard sounds of people talking. When I tried to get up, I couldn’t. I couldn’t move my head, or any of my body parts, only my eyes. I tried to scream, but nothing came out. I screamed so loud, but it came out as a whisper. Then suddenly, I felt something on my chest. I tried to move. Then I felt something cold, like hands, grabbing me, by my arms. Then I saw this ghost, and she was dressed in a white wedding dress. When I could finally move, she was gone.”

True Ghost Story: Old Hag

Location: Glenn Sutton, QuebecCanada

The following report was sent into our website by Hanna on December 12, 2009:

“Just out of Montreal, out in the country, up a dirt road was my Great Aunt’s house. Surrounding it is only a huge mass of forest. And at night it gets so quiet that you can hear the lightest breeze out the window. My sister and I were sleeping in the master bedroom with two separate beds, and already we were quite scared. Mostly scared of how quiet it was.

I fell asleep for a short time and woke up suddenly to see my sister shaking with fear and curled up in a ball. I didn’t understand at first, but when she got her voice back she told me that as soon as I fell asleep my body started jolting up and down as if I was possessed. My face apparently looked like that of an old Hag. She also said that a black mass was hovering over me, and all she could do was try to send it away. After a while, it did, and that was when I woke up.

We stayed awake all that night hearing strange noises in the hallway. Sounds of a little girl making a ruckus and laughing and giggling. We knew we were the only kids in the house, so we were sure to get blamed. However, those noises didn’t scare us as much as what happened before. Sure enough, the next morning our Aunt got extremely mad, saying she heard us laugh and run up and down the hall all night long.”

True Ghost Story: Harrassed by the Old Hag

Location: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

The following report was sent into our website by Joe on Nov 27, 2006:

“For five years I lived in a haunted house in Victoria. I would like to share with you a few of my stories. It started out very small things would go missing and weeks later would return to the same place were they disappeared from. This not only happened to me but to my mother. But as time went on things got worse.

Now I like to share with you three of the most terrifying nights of my life. My bedroom was located in the basement, nothing ever happened upstairs only in the basement. One night I was laying in my room getting ready for bed. It was me and my two dogs, I still can feel how cold it got in my room that night, I couldn’t see anything but I knew something was standing right over me. I was so scared that I couldn’t even scream for help. The other thing that freaked me out was that the dogs were shaking. While this was happening my brother who was in the other room came in, he too was shaking with fear. We made our way upstairs and slept on the couch that night.

Not too long after this happened I had a friend over, it was around 4pm, we were in my room listening to music when he said to me that he felt as though something was watching us. I had never told any of my friends that I thought the house was haunted before this. I also could feel something standing in the doorway of my room. On my wall my mother had hung rosaries and some crosses. Without warning one of the rosaries had begun to swing back and forth on the wall, my friend seen this and bolted from the house. While leaving he ran my mother over. He was my friend for 15 yrs but he refused to come inside that house again.

One night I left my job and started to walk home. I heard someone calling my name, I turned around and at the end of the road there was this old lady dressed in really old clothes and she was mad because I wouldn’t come and see her. I ran home but no matter how fast I ran she was still always a block behind me. I got home and told my parents but I don’t think they really believed me.

Later that night I woke up and before I knew it my body was pinned to the bed. Someone was sitting on me holding my arms over my head. I tried everything to move but couldn’t, then it was gone. While this was going on at first I thought my brother was playing a joke on me. But I was a 3 yr bodybuilder at the time and when I couldn’t move what was holding me down I knew I was in trouble. I was 16 when this happened and I moved out as soon as I could.

To this day my mother and youngest brother still live in the house. They have had their church friends over to bless the house, but it is still haunted — not to the degree it was when I was there, but the ghost still let them know that they’re here.

Thank you for taking the time to read some of the things that I endured while growing up in Victoria.”
