True Ghost Story: A Black Mass Standing There

“This just happened the other night, long after the rest of my family had gone to bed. I had stayed up to read, and at around 2am decided to finally go to bed. I brushed my teeth, changed, etc. and finally threw over the covers to my bed and sat down, marking the page in my book where I left off and setting it down on my bedside table (which is attached to the bed itself, held by screws). I’ve had this bed for a few years and it’s very sturdy.

After setting my book down, the entire bedside table broke off and fell forwards onto the ground causing my book, glasses, and bedside lamp to fall down. In the split second this happened, the lamp (which was on) flickered on and off with an unnatural white-blue light. And I saw, in the centre of my room, a black mass, not very big, somewhat standing there before the lamp went out for good. Surprising even myself, I sat there for a few seconds in the darkness before jumping up and running into the hallway to meet my parents, who also heard the noise.

Upon inspection, the lamp remains plugged in, the bulb screwed in and not broken. However when I try to turn the light on, it remains dark. The back of the bedside table also has strange scratch marks at the bottom. How I still sleep in my room baffles me.”

Toronto Ghosts: Blue Figure Dripping Wet

“I was about 7 at the time. I went up to my aunt’s cottage for a week with my cousin, mother, and 2 aunts. When I walked in I felt strange, you know that feeling. Well, it was the first time I went into the cottage. My cousin and I were just playing around in the living room, and the windows were open. I just quickly looked at the window above the couch, and I saw what looked like a yellow figure run by. I told my cousin and she said that it was probably nothing. So I went back to playing the game.

A few hours later we all sat down for dinner. And when I finished I went back into the living room to watch TV. I looked back to the dining room, and saw it again in the window running past, but this time in blue. I was really creeped out because again no one saw it.

I fell asleep on the couch that night, and Chace, ( one of the 2 labs that were there) came down the stairs then stopped at the front door, and whimpered. So I looked to see what was there, and then Joker ( the other dog) came running to his side, and growled at the corner. I got up to make sure that the door was shut, and that they were ok. The door was locked, and everything was fine. But I got that strange feeling again. I layed back down on the couch, and joker went to the stairs and faced the corner, as if to guard the stairs and everyone that was up there. And Chace came over to me and layed down in front of the couch, I guess to protect me, again staring at the corner.

Probably an hour later, something told me to wake up. So I instantly looked at the corner by the door, and there was a blue figure there. It was all blue, and see through. You know like the black and white movies? How it’s different shades of black, and you could still tell what the people are wearing? Well, I could tell that he was wearing a red t-shirt, ripped jeans, and had shaggy blond hair. And the thing that haunts me to this day, is that we were right by a lake. He looked about in his 20’s, and was dripping wet. He had his hands in his pockets, and leaning against the wall. He was staring straight at me, straight in the eye. I put my arm down, to feel if Chace was still there, and the second I did he shot up, and stayed in front of me, growling at the guy. So I knew that he saw it too. It lasted a good 15 minutes, and I couldn’t move, or blink. I got a pillow, and threw it at the “ghost” and it just dropped to the ground in front of the ghost guy. Then he got up, and took a step closer to me then very slowly disappeared. I stayed up for the rest of the night, just staring at the corner.

Last summer, I went back to the cottage, and I still felt the same feeling. I was just waiting for it to happen again. I was there all alone, everyone else was at the water. And I sat on the couch, same spot as I did years ago, and I felt him staring at me. But it felt like he was a good presence. I guess that the guy is nice, and still to this day, I think he died or drowned somewhere near the lake.”

True Ghost Story: Blue Figure Standing In The Corner Dripping Wet

True Ghost Story: Shadow In The Corner Growling At Me

“When I was about 10 or 11 yrs old, I lived on Embassy Avenue. It was an old neighborhood and rather creepy as well. During my days there I used to love watching horror movies late at night. But it seemed that every time I watched a horror movie, there was something watching me. This dark feeling came mainly from my hallway which was close by my TV. But that wasn’t what scared me. What scared me was what would happen at night after these movies.

At about 2AM every night that I had watched a horror movie there would be a dark figure that would come into my room and find a new way to scare me every time. Whether it took form of scary characters from my movies or a shadow in the corner growling at me it always caused me to flee from my room and into my parents’ bedroom.

Then later on, one day, I was home alone after school, so there was still light out. And I had decided that I needed a cup of tea. So I set off to make my tea, prepared my mug and turned the kettle on. When the water was hot I began to pour the water into my mug. And when it was halfway full my mug, very quickly, flew up about 30cm and smashed back on to my counter as if someone grabbed it, picked it up, and hit it against my counter. First I was in denial, thinking I had lost my mind. But then I saw that my mug was chipped on the bottom and my tea was leaking out. Of course this had me completely panicked resulting in me fleeing my home to a friend’s house.

Every now and then something would happen, whether it was growling and grunting, to things being missing, to cabinets being open for no reason. It wasn’t a great experience.

Now that I don’t live there anymore, these experiences are just memories.”

True Ghost Story: She Was Standing Right In Front Of Me

“Please note: All of this is a true story which at some parts, may seem exaggerated or taken from a film or story but is being written from a very clear and terrifying memory of mine from years ago. None of this was tweaked or made up. And it isn’t some story for entertainment; this is real.

My family and I were looking around Toronto for a new environment to live in and came across a group of town-houses. The neighborhood didn’t exactly look the safest place for kids to live, but it was in our price range. We took a tour of one of the town-houses and all agreed that it gave us the creeps, what with our instantly sweaty hands and feelings of nausea. All, except my dad. Thinking it was worth a shot, my dad ignored our protests and signed the papers.

After unpacking and picking our rooms, my sister and I wanted to head to bed. At the time, we both shared a room and slept in a bunk bed. I had the top and she, the bottom. It was around 1 in the morning when I woke up with a chill and looked around the room. I noticed our door was wide open and not remembering if we had previously closed it, I tried forcing myself to go back to bed. With no luck, I just laid there staring at the ceiling when I suddenly felt that I was being watched. Too scared to move, I kept my head firmly on my pillow and looked around the room in the corners of my eyes. I didn’t see anything, so with more confidence, I picked my head up and stared down at the foot of the bed where my legs felt numb/paralyzed. In that moment, I felt numbness take over my entire body as I started to profusely sweat and grow nauseated. I will never forget exactly how I felt at that moment, because I couldn’t move, making me stare directly at the unmoving object not even 3″ away from my body. What I saw and remember clearly appeared to be a young woman standing about 6 feet tall in what looked like a night gown, clutching the bars of the bed near my feet, staring back at me. Her face held no emotion. She simply stared. That was the first time I have ever encountered anything, and because I was only 9 years old, I did what any child would do. I quickly grabbed my blanket which, because we just moved in, happened to be a mattress sheet. And shoved it over my head and started to cry. I don’t know how long I waited under there, but after I calmed down I slowly pulled it off and peeked out to see if she was gone. Feeling more relaxed, I dropped my head on the pillow. I didn’t want to believe the woman I saw was still in the room with me, but I noticed the nauseous feeling I had, did not go away.

I just wanted to go to sleep, so I closed my eyes and turned my head on its right side. Without opening my eyes, I felt my hands start to sweat when I suddenly turned cold. I didn’t know what was going on, so I opened my eyes and came face to face with this woman. Instead of being at the foot of the bed like she was before, she was standing right in front of me, still clutching the bars. Again, I started crying and hid under the covers. After about 5-10 minutes, I came back out and she was gone. I looked all around the room to see if she was yet again somewhere else in my room, which she was not. I then pretty much believed I would not sleep that night and stared back at the ceiling, when I noticed a white figure standing in my parents’ room across from mine (their door was opened also). I couldn’t
believe what I was seeing. The figure that was towering over my parents’ bed, staring at them, was the woman. I felt paralyzed, like I couldn’t move and couldn’t talk. I kept looking at this figure in a state of shock and fright.

Finally, I was able to move and stated shaking. I managed to blink, and when I reopened my eyes, I saw her not in my parents’ room anymore, but standing in the hallway staring into my older brother’s room where he, no doubt, was still awake and unknowing of the woman overlooking his room. Finally after crying the third time, I decided I didn’t want to sleep on the top bunk where I feared she would pay me another visit, so I raided the bottom bunk with my younger sister. After laying awake for about 30 minutes, I managed to fall asleep.

I woke up late the next morning and had to face many questions from my sister as to why I was crying when I woke her up in the middle of the night. And finally decided I would tell her about my experience. Her face turned pale and she advised me to tell my parents. I needed everyone to know so I got everyone to meet in my parents’ room. After telling them, my parents got into a fight because we warned my dad that something about that place didn’t sit right in our stomachs. My dad had felt bad for “traumatizing” me by moving into the house so he decided he would sleep in my room and see what happens. My dad is quite religious in a way, so he believed that the night he stayed in my room, he would not find anything, and true to his word nothing happened.

My mother is a very strong believer in this kind of spiritual stuff, so she wanted to investigate a bit. After hearing what happened with me, she asked me to describe the woman I saw, (which consisted of her features like hair, facial expression, etc.) and asked around the neighborhood of anything tragic happening in the house in past years. She found an elderly couple living a few houses down and asked them if anything had happened in our town-house. What she heard still chills me to this day.

There was a family that lived in a house and they had a daughter. She had growth hormone deficiency which made her appear to be in her teens (like I thought she was) when in fact, she was in her late 20’s. It was unsaid why, but she has had many seizures in her life, causing her parents to be nervous of her living on her own (given that she did not have a partner). It was around midnight when she had another seizure and her parents had no clue. She didn’t survive. A description was given of her and it matched perfectly with mine. The house she died in, was ours. The room she died in, was mine.”
