The following report was sent into our website by Kerri on Dec 7, 2012:
“In Ajax there is a piece of land that has been named “Salem’s Lot” or “Salem’s Corners” because it is just off of Salem Road. My sister and I had heard a lot of things about Salem’s Lot and how it was supposedly haunted so we wanted to go check it out. She had been there in the past but I never had. There is a broken down fence you have to hop over and a lot of brush to get through before you make it to an overgrown dirt path. This place was beautiful – completely surrounded by trees. It was hard to believe anybody called it haunted. We walked through the forest laughing and not feeling any fear whatsoever. We came to a part of the path that was just completely overgrown and my sister – who was feeling brave for some reason – wanted to press onward. I started feeling hesitant thinking of bugs but then what I heard next made me want to turn back and sprint to the car. I could hear what sounded like a little girl sobbing quietly or singing. I went silent and my sister turned to face me. She asked me what was wrong. She suddenly began to panic. She told me it looked like I had seen a ghost. I didn’t want to create anymore panic so I told her nothing was wrong and I just didn’t want to go any further.
I insisted that we leave and then she really started to panic. We took another path that would lead us to the other side of the forest. The way the trees wrapped around the pathway it looked like we were walking down the aisle of an elegant wedding – or funeral. Finally when I could see we were coming to an exit, I told my sister that I lied when I said nothing was wrong and I told her what had me spooked. She told me she had heard the singing as well but she thought it was just me. We both started to sprint out of the forest and then we heard somebody yelling behind us. It sounded like a little girl screaming for help. We kept yelling back but nobody would respond. Then when we finally got out of the forest the yelling happened again. The person kept yelling and we kept yelling back. Eventually the yelling stopped. My sister and I haven’t been back to Salem’s Lot since.”
