Ghost report from Megan on April 18, 2015:
“When I was 13 my parents separated, and my father moved back to Sault Ste. Marie. Fast forward three years, I was 16 and I was visiting my dad and his girlfriend in his “new” house. I don’t know exactly when it was built, but it seemed pretty old and there was a pole in the basement that was dated 1912.
So I get to my dad’s house for the first time, and I walk in and the first thing that I notice was the feeling of something there. It wasn’t oppressive, it was just obvious that there was something in the house. My dad shows me to my room, and I remember there was this closet, and the door was really small and it just freaked me out. All night I just kept worrying about it and I was trying to ignore the feeling someone was watching me. I could hear footsteps going up and down the stairs. And I also heard someone singing downstairs. But I tried to ignore all this and just assumed the neighbors had music on, and the footsteps were from someone going up and down the stairs to get a drink or something. So I fell into an uneasy sleep.
The next day I mentioned it to my dad and his girlfriend. My dad quickly dismissed it. But his girlfriend told me stories about someone upstairs walking around and whistling when she was the only one home, and seeing shadows following here and sitting at the end of her bed at night.
The next night I heard the singing again. So I asked my dad if he left a radio on and he said no, so I went back to sleep. I could hear the cupboard doors opening and closing, and I could hear a chair being dragged across the floor.
In the morning, my dad’s girlfriend got a call from her mother, who told her that she got a call from a woman in Winnipeg who said that her Uncle George came to her in a dream and said he needed to find Edith’s middle daughter because they just moved into a new house and there’s a spirit there that’s bothering the girls. She also told her to get a picture of him and put it into the house so he could find them.
The closet in my bedroom freaked me out so badly that I nailed it shut, but the nails were just leaning up against the door so we could open it if we needed to. About an hour later I went up there to get a towel from the closet and most of the nails were on the floor, but some were sticking straight out of the door frame like someone tried to open the door. We were the only three in the house, and we were all downstairs the whole time.
One of the nights I was there, my step brother came to visit. We were all playing Monopoly at the kitchen table, and I heard movement upstairs and the latch on the door above us clicking. My room was right above where we were sitting. My step brother and me looked at each other and he looked a little shocked. I tried to ignore it. Unfortunately, my dad saw and asked what was up. I asked him if he heard that and he said no.
It took two days for them to find a picture of her uncle, and when they did they put it into my bedroom. My step mom was sick with the flu, and I was too scared to sleep in my room. So I stayed with her, and my dad slept in my room alone. She was passed out and all I could hear downstairs was muffled voices. I couldn’t make out any of the words they were saying, but it was two men and it was a heated argument. Out of nowhere I felt something come into the room. I moved the blankets from my face, and there was a man’s face right in front of me. It scared me so bad I couldn’t move.
I got my dad to take me home early, I was so scared.
A few years later, my dad’s girlfriend told me how the activity had escalated to her being touched. And one time he followed her up the stairs and she covered her face because she could hear/feel him behind her. He moved in front of her and she heard him say “look at me”, and she ran back downstairs. That was a few months before I got there though, and it was the last time they had any sort of activity. But the first night I stayed there we went downstairs in the morning and the curtains were laying on the floor and the rod was still on the window.
They moved out of that house a few years ago. I never figured out the history, but it would be really interesting!”
