Lac Seul Ghosts: Pelican Falls High School – ‘Scratches on My Legs’

true ghost stories lac seul

Location: Sioux Lookout (Lac Seul First Nation), Ontario, Canada
Type: house on school site
Built: n/a

Ghost report from Anonymous:

“So I go to school at Pelican Falls High School. It used to be an old Aboriginal residential school. So many people/kids have died in the area. We live on site so there is quite a bit of us in a single big house.

Usually when I’m upstairs alone I’d hear people in other rooms or the closet down the hallway, but no one would be upstairs.

There was this time I slept in room 4. There would be this little girl age 4-6 who would walk in almost every night and lay down in the middle of the room and disappear.

And when I moved to room 2 the same little girl would come in, but she wouldn’t be as nice and friendly as she used to be.

On multiple occasions I would wake up with scratches on my legs or arms. Once in a while, I would have bruises on my wrists.

Other times you would be able to hear a man yelling in the hallway in the middle of the night. The male gender wouldn’t be allowed upstairs and our doors would be locked at 11pm, so no way they would get in at 2 am in the morning. And it would be scary, usually would have to listen to music and drain out the sounds.

We would be lucky if we could go a while without hearing or seeing anything. May I add this is about 30 minutes away from Sioux Lookout, Ontario, in the Lac Seul traditional territory.”

Iskut Ghosts: Haunted School – ‘Pounding on the Walls’

Iskut ghosts haunted paranormal British Columbia BC Canada

Location: Iskut (First Nations Community), British Columbia, Canada
Type: school
Built: n/a

Ghost report from Bonnie on May 28, 2015:

“I worked at a school in Iskut, BC for two years and have never been so frightened in another building in my life. I have lived in many creepy houses and ventured through strange, eerie buildings, but they never actually scared me. The school in Iskut did.

The first time I walked into the building it had an uncomfortable, oppressive feeling to it. And I could immediately feel someone, or something, watching me.

I worked in the library, which was located in the centre of the building and was open to the rest of the building on two sides. Basically, I only had two walls, and no doors. Because of this, I could hear most of what happened in the school. When the kids left, the building was usually quite quiet. But when the rest of the staff would leave, it got noisier again.

I often stayed late with two of the teachers because there was a lot of work to do in the library. When the other teachers left, they would lock their classrooms. All the same, after they were gone, I’d hear their classroom doors opening and slamming shut. Afterward, I’d hear small footsteps, and sometimes a girl giggling. If I stayed particularly late (after dinner time) I would sometimes hear what sounded like a person running down the hallway and pounding on the walls on one side. I couldn’t see anyone, and anyone trying to do that on the other side of the wall would have to be able to run through classroom walls to do it.

After a fundraiser one night, I was bringing supplies back from the gym into the main part of the building. When I opened the doors, I could hear jazz music coming from one of the classrooms. The classroom door was locked and it was dark inside. When I opened the door, the music stopped. I checked the CD player the teacher used, and it was unplugged. Needless to say, I got out of there as quick as I could.

Another experience was much later at night. My father was contracted with renovating the school’s kitchen and was trying to meet a strict deadline, so he asked me to help after school hours. We had two days left to finish, so we were working well past midnight to finish on time. I was feeling very jumpy and kept flinching at the smallest of sounds. Eventually, my dad asked if I was okay, and I told him I felt like something was watching me and/or creeping up on me. He said, “Well, I didn’t want to tell you this, but, when I was here by myself the other night, I saw a little girl. She stayed in the shadows of the hallway, just out of range of my work lights. I asked her what she was doing in the building and she said, ‘My name is Kayla and I live here now.’ Then she laughed and disappeared. It was like she dissolved or something. I didn’t want to scare you, but maybe she’s hanging out with us.” I worked as hard as I could to be finished that project and avoided the building late at night from then on.

The last occurrence I experienced was shortly before I left the community. I was working in the library through Spring Break to get it ready for the next librarian, so I was alone in the building. I could hear a sound that was a mixture of strong winds and distant thunder, and I felt as though something was behind me. Suddenly, a shadow like a huge bird swooped down from the ceiling behind me. Instinctively, I ducked, but it still seemed as if it was only an inch or so above my head. It glided across the library, down the hallway at the other end, then rose up into the ceiling. After that, music started playing in the classroom at the far end of the building. I was so freaked out, I almost left, but one of the janitors came into the building, and the music stopped. I managed to work through the rest of the day, but I found someone to come with me for the rest of Spring Break.”

Ottawa Ghosts: St. Paul University Library – Figures Seen Walking

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Type: library at a university
Built: n/a

The following report was sent into our website by M on September 12, 2014:

“I’ve posted a few pictures on my Facebook page (editor’s note: see photos at bottom of this page) of what I believe to be ghosts at the Saint Paul University Library. Some who have viewed it believe my pictures are incredible finds while others say it’s just my wild imagination.

When I was a student at Saint Paul University and when students were still able to stay in the library all night, I continuously saw silhouettes of figures walking back and forth in front of me.

So one night I decided to take my camera to the library to confirm my suspicions and took a few pictures when I thought I saw something moving.

When I uploaded the pictures, I saw an anomaly in one of them and highlighted that section. It was then I saw two faces looking right back at me along with a written language underneath them, but my friends dismissed it as me seeing things that aren’t really there in the picture (pareidolia).

I asked a professor at the university who is an expert with ancient Greek about the writing that I saw on the picture, and he says that he can’t read what’s written in the picture.

I thought to myself maybe I could try it again and find something more definitive. I returned to the library a few more times and stayed late and took a few pictures and videos, but nothing developed from those attempts.

But on December 5th, 2012, on a cold winter’s day right before exams, I went to the library again hoping to take a few more pictures to see if I could capture anything. That night, I thought I saw something move right in the corner. I snapped a few pictures and took a few videos and left to upload the pictures onto my computer.

In that one picture where I thought I saw something moving in the corner, I saw an anomaly. I highlighted it and saw a woman wearing glasses staring back at me. That’s when I remembered the very, very cold breath I felt directly on the centre (not side or top) of the back of my neck right after I took the picture. There was nothing behind me but a wall and the only vents that were around were from the ceiling.

I haven’t been back since, but I plan on doing another investigation at another point in time.”

NOTE FROM COLDSPOT.ORG: We did a wee bit of research and discovered this interesting tidbit — according to the St.Paul University website, this library (called “Jean-Leon-Allie Library”) just so happens to be the largest theological library in Canada and the sixth-largest in North America. For those unaware, “theology” is the study of the nature of God and religious belief.

College of the North Atlantic: La Brown Building – Haunted Newfoundland Database

CollegeOfTheNorthAtlantic

Location: Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada
Type: college

The following report was sent into our website by Margaret on March 25, 2014:

“I was in school in LA Bown Building doing my courses in 2006 in the cafeteria eating my lunch with a friend. When I looked up and saw a guy with 1950s clothing moving around music equipment on the stage. I didn’t think anything of it but something forced me to watch him.

After a while, he walked behind the stage but never saw him afterwards. About half an hour later a few of the music Industry students came in and started asking me if I moved the equipment. I said no that one of their classmates did.

When I described him they said that nobody fit that description and everybody was in class. I did some research and he was somebody who died in that school in the 1950’s. I believe what I saw was a ghost.”

Haunted Campus Library

Location: Ontario, Canada

The following report was sent into our website:

“One of the spirits that I was lucky to come into contact with was that of a former faculty member at the particular university I attended. This spirit was seen, heard and felt in the campus library. He was a rather helpful sort if you happened to be stuck looking through books relating to English essay topics in the campus library.

Now this library was a fairly typical one as libraries go, other than the fact that it is sinking into the ground at the rate of 1 1/2 to 2 inches per year thanks to some ingenious engineers who failed to take into account the weight of the books that would be occupying the six floor building. The building dates back to the 1960’s when the university originally opened as a technical college. The cornerstone on the library building lists 1969 as the date it was built.

The spirit in the library is a male roughly between the ages of 40-60.

This spirit would actually make you work for a bit before helping you though. One experience with this spirit (which happened 3 years ago) involved looking through outdated copies of literary reviews for such publications as the Quill & Quire and American Weekly. A bunch of students and myself were looking for articles relating to an essay that we had to write for a particular English class that year.

By the time I had located a volume with info about my topic, my classmates had already left. I was one of about 3 people left on the floor. The other two people inhabited study carols across the room from where I was looking for books. At this point, I had been in the library for about 2 hours and was getting bored and frustrated as I was not finding a lot of books containing articles to support my point of view.

I found one volume which contained an article that sort of related to my topic in a rather vague way and walked to the photocopier to copy it. There were a few books piled up beside the photocopier left by other students. As I was copying my article, the pile of books fell over opening two of them to other articles that exactly matched the topic that I was researching.

I thought that it was an odd coincidence and thought no more of it. I picked up the two books photocopied the articles and re-piled them. I then returned to the row where I had found the book which I had originally meant to copy from and re-shelved it, only to find another volume on the floor open to yet another article.

About a week later, I was talking to some friends in one of my other classes about the experience in the library and they mentioned some other things that they had felt.

When you first enter the library, there are reference stacks from which someone always seems to be watching you. This has been noted by at least 20 other people at different times of day and night. The library is generally open from 10am till 11:30pm five days a week and various other hours on weekends.

The experiences with the books falling off of shelves and feeling like you’re being watched generally happen on the fourth floor. This same spirit also tends to appear on the main floor near the reference desk.

To my knowledge, there have not been any deaths in that particular building. I have spoken to other people who have worked at the university but who were reluctant to expand on the name of that particular person who hasn’t quite left the building. To most of the university community, he is there but not to be spoken of in order to avoid scaring would be students.”
