Edmonton Ghosts: Face in the Mirror

Ghost report from Rhiannon on December 3, 2015:

“One night during the summer I was on FaceTime with a friend and she saw something in my mirror. I couldn’t see it so she took a screenshot and sent it to me. When you look at it closely you can see a face, shaped as a skull. The photo creeped me out so I washed my mirror and all my windows.

When I woke up the next morning there were small hand prints on my mirror. I thought that maybe it was just my siblings messing with me, so I just ignored it.

The next few days after that I kept getting woken up at exactly 3am in the morning by weird noises in my bathroom. So I would get up and open the bathroom door and there was nothing, no one in there. After that I started covering the mirror on the bathroom door with a blanket and nothing happened for a while.

A few weeks later I figured that whatever was in my room was gone, so I stopped covering the mirror.

That night I was woken by the noise of my dog barking at something in the corner, but I didn’t see anything. A little bit later I woke up because I felt like I couldn’t breathe. When I looked up there was a black shadow figure standing at the end of my bed. I blinked and it was gone.

I never saw it again, it disappeared and was gone out of my life for good.”

Edmonton Ghosts: Icy Fingers Running Over My Hands

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

The following report was sent into our website by Amanda on Aug 24, 2014:

“I was renting a basement suite in the Bonny Doon area that I am absolutely sure is haunted.

Often at night, I would hear footsteps upstairs – rather loud ones at that – and had always assumed it was the upstairs neighbour’s daughter, who was young and a bit nocturnal. However, after a bout of near stomping one night in the wee hours of the morning, I went upstairs to ask them to “keep it down” only to find no one up or at home.

Other times, I would feel an overwhelming sense of sadness or heaviness out of the blue. So much so, I felt like crying for no particular reason, which is really odd, since I’m not prone to emotional outbursts as such. Then, the feeling would vanish again as rapidly as it had appeared.

The strangest thing that ever happened, though, was the feeling of icy fingers running over my hands and resting there as I was typing on my computer one night. I rose my hands a bit to feel if there were a draft from a vent or something, but found the rest of the space around me, and my hands, to be warm; the coldness was limited to that one spot where I’d had my hands. The cold lingered for a few minutes and then was gone.

After I had moved out, new owners who lived upstairs once called me, not long after I’d moved out, to ask if I’d returned and was downstairs. I found this to be odd, since I’d given them my keys the week before and had no access to the house. The lady said they kept hearing noises downstairs, like someone banging kitchen cabinet doors, etc.

After this, I knew that my imagination wasn’t playing tricks on me, and that there really was a ghost in the house. I never felt that the ghost was threatening at all, just perhaps very sad. Almost as though it were lonely. Hopefully it has found it’s now able to rest easy.”

Edmonton Ghosts: The Calls Of One Lonely Loon

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

The following report was sent into our website by Rose on June 28, 2014:

“My mother-in-law passed away at mid-age unexpectedly in another province. She had been the only child from a second marriage and had been bitterly divorced from my father-in-law. My husband flew out to finalize her burial and quickly found no one knew what her last wishes would have been. Distraught, my husband turned to me asking what should be done. I really had no clue and felt uneasy making that decision for someone else. I suggested to my husband that her plans were to one day come to Alberta to be close to us. I just wanted him home. I suggested he should bring her ashes back with him.

We were a young couple with little money with one young son and another on the way. I thought to myself…my mother-in-law would never know our second child…. how sad.

We decided when my husband got home to spread my mother-in-law’s ashes in a beautiful lake area close by where we enjoyed family walks. We walked down the trail for quite sometime. It was an overcast misty day. There was not a noise to be heard… only the sound of a loon calling on the distant lake. A continuous lonely haunting call. We spread her ashes and walked back out… again only hearing the calls of one lonely loon.

Our second son was born. close to the anniversary of my mother-in-law’s passing. I suggested we walk into the lake area and lay roses down for her. We had a measly ten dollars left in the bank before payday. We bought roses for just under ten dollars and set out on our walk. About half an hour into the walk, and not a
soul around, we came upon a ten-dollar bill in the middle of the trail.

On another occasion I took our two boys, now preschoolers, and dog for a walk out to the lake area. We were about to leave and the kids wanted to throw rocks into the lake at the water’s edge. I turned to put our backpack in the car and leash the dog back up. To my amazement a lone loon had surfaced not more than a few feet off shore in front of my boys. Even with a barking dog on the end of a leash the loon calmly looked at the boys for a moment with her red eyes and then disappeared gently back under the water.

Three experiences on three separate occasions. This was way past coincidence in my mind.

Although I’m not of Aboriginal descent, I tried to find some meaning in these experiences. Some reasoning. The loon in Aboriginal culture represents a messenger of peace and is admired for strong family bonds.

I had always felt unsure if we had made the right decision about spreading her ashes at the beautiful lake area. I also felt sad that she had not lived to know my sons and them know her. She would have been a wonderful loving grandma to my boys. To reconcile this in my mind…I’ve taken the experiences with the single loon as her approval on both accounts.”

Edmonton Ghosts: It Was Looking In At Us

Edmonton ghosts haunted paranormal Alberta Canada

Ghost report from Crystal on April 29, 2014:

“I wanted to share another personal experience story, it gives me shivers just remembering it. My mom and step dad bought a house in the early 90’s, near Yellowhead Trail in Edmonton. I would go to visit for dinner and felt scared every time I set foot there. Every family member and friend that spent time at this house has a story about it.

It was my 13th birthday, my mom and step dad threw me a BBQ birthday party. And my sister and I, though a little scared, decided that we would sleep over at mom’s together as long as we shared a bed. The entire time mom lived here my sis and I would stay together only. I remember the party being outside and every time I had to go into the house I would run in, then back outside as quick as I could, feeling like someone was watching me.

After the party we watched a movie before bed. While watching the movie we all heard a bang in the kitchen. Upon investigation we saw that the lid to the garbage had fallen off. We brushed it off. Then my sis and I went to bed, shutting the door all the way cause we felt like someone was watching us. I woke up in the middle of the night for some reason and saw that the door was open a little. Then I saw it open wider and a figure that looked like my mom, tall with brown hair and glasses was looking in. “Mom”? I called. No answer, and the figure still just stared right at me. I could see through it, though it really looked like mom.

I shook my sister awake and whispered for her to look at the door. She did and called “Mom?” Still no answer, we were so scared we both screamed out “MOM, MOM” ..

Then my mom finally came rushing in asking what was wrong. We asked her if she was peeking in at us. She told us she was sleeping until she heard us scream. So we told her what we had seen and she wasn’t surprised at all and explained she has seen similar things, but not to worry, it’s just checking on us and next time we see something like that to just tell it to go away. This happened for as long as mom lived there to us, and anyone who stayed.

Even seven years later I stayed there with my boyfriend, he and I had seen the same. Doors opening just a crack with someone looking at us and the closet doors doing the same.

Thanks for reading my about my experience. I have many more to tell……”
